99% of the people here are probably putting all of this "illegally" downloaded music on their ipod(s), if you can afford an ipod, you can spend 99 cents on the song that you want so bad as opposed to buying a 17 dollar cd.

the music your downloading for free (limewire and stufff) isnt of the same quality as ripping an actually cd or downloading things off itunes. it is conveniant at times i guess to illegally download things, but music is art, and to continue the original recordings of the songs and albums your downloading illegally, the record labels/artists have to be making some sort of profit in doing so, you aren't going to burn for the rest of eternity if you download one song here or there, but buy your music for the most part, and stop taking it for granted that enough people are going to do things the right way and keep the record labels producing what you love.

although its an invasion of your privacy, it doesn't mean the people trying to put an end to this are wrong, they are trying to stop what shouldn't be happening in the first place, especially on a scale as large as it is currently.

ill leave you with this: Every time you download something, and nothing leaves your wallets, you are hurting the people who made the music, and many other people. I am also not a fan of the industrializing of any form of art, but if you buy bottled water, and spend money to fill your soccer balls and bike tires with 75 cents of air, i think you can support the hard working artists who put out the music your taking time out of your day to download works of in the first place. Spend a little of the money, if it isn't worth it to you to do that- then it isn't good enough to be downloaded illegally either. your risking arrest, fines, and virus's, as well as what should be a feeling of guilt.

I think you should be allowed to download music. And if you are not allowed to download it the people that put it up should be to blame not the downloaders.

the riaa is unnecessary, k? the record industry itself is proving hopelessly incapable of keeping up with the needs of the consumers keeping it running. the people should not be punished for working around an industry tyrant. art and big industry do not and should not work together. downloading music illegally allows people to discover artists they didn't know about, whom they can then support by choice.

limewire is your friend!

that's all i have to say, kids.

We may all have different opinions on the matter, but the fact is, it is impossible to prosecute all the millions of downloaders; being so, it is impossible to stop all the sites. In the days of computerization, it was only a matter of time before the cd industry became obselete. Its nearly over, and sooner or later they are going to have to accept that.

and yes yes, people will say that downloading is wrong. but why is sharing music files the only thing thats wrong? Consider all the other things that are downloaded that are unfair to producers, artists, and writers. persecute not one, but all. If you are not ready to take on the entire Web community, dont bark so loud.

they say they want to protect the artist? ask them how much profit the artist make from the cds.

but, that is just humble aida's opinion.

you must respect the copyright! downloading without paying is theft. it's not condoned when you steal a CD from a music store and it shouldn't be condoned from online downloading. That's the artist's creation - they should get compensation for it.

Downloading isn't the reason why the music industry is in such a hole. No, it's because they've been pumping out cookie-cutter, lowest-common-denominator GARBAGE for the last 15 years, and music lovers are sick of it. They'd have to pay ME to listen to some of the tripe that passes for "music" these days (I'm looking at you, Jonas Brothers.....through the scope on my Dragunov).

Artists deserve a right to their work and copyright infringement is just plain wrong. People who steal should be prosecuted, and there is no reason to try to get around record labels. The RIAA is fully supported by me, and they are doing the right thing. Legal downloading on iTunes or Rhapsody is fine, but illegal downloading on BitTorrent and other file sharing networks is to be punished under the law.

Popstars and music entrepeurs have rediculous amounts of money. Albums can go for as much as 19.99. Listening to music should be something that everyone everywhere can enjoy and afford, and unfortunately the industry is making that a bit difficult. If people are resulting to downloading music illegally then hopefully they just really want to listen to music but can't afford to go out and buy an album. Making music used to be about getting out there and being heard, but lately I think that the focus is centered too much on getting money and cool stuff as quick as possible. I think that the RIAA should lay off people who's only desire is to listen to music, and focus on those who are dowloading in mass quantities and selling bootleg albums to make money. Most kids just want to listen to music and although they might be taking miniscule amounts away from various industry players, they're not gaining a profit and shouldn't be penilised so harshly. Sorry for spelling errors, my computer at home has spell check! GO LSC!!!
